A study was conducted in response to a request to assess the burden of Group A Streptococcal (GAS) invasive disease at a local facility.

A report of a possible increase in admissions due to GAS related invasive disease was received. An epidemiologic study was initiated. A retrospective analysis was conducted and data was analyzed to identify trends of a possible increase. Non-invasive GAS infection rates were analyzed to rule out proportional increases and a final report on the findings determined there was no increase in cases at the facility.
