The client
Client is a $9 billion annual revenue diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. The largest operating subsidiaries utility companies providing electric and/or gas services to more than three million residential, commercial, and industrial customers. In addition, client has a number of non-utility subsidiaries which provide energy-related services to business and industry nationwide.
The Challenge
In early 2007, client implemented an Enterprise Business System and replaced more than 100 disparate legacy information systems with SAP, costing more $400 million to implement. This was an enterprise-wide business process reengineering effort combined with board-based IT multi-systems implementation project. As a major undertaking, this change affected all aspects of business processes.
Each business unit formed a team to lead the organization change within the unit. We were part of the consulting team hired by the Supply Chain director of migration to establish and manage a migration PMO.
The Solution
Sam Wakeel led a 5-person program management office (PMO) to ensure successful migration through comprehensive effort to plan & manage the activities, and to track & report progress.
This PMO directed activities in Employee Change Management, Procurement Transactions, Supplier Change Management, Inventory Warehousing and Logistics, Account Payable Data and systems, and Migration Assurance. We created and executed scope, timing, communication, issues, risk, and integrated change management plans.
Results
Client’s supply chain organization achieved Go-Live on time, without major issues.
