Peter Habicht, Lead Consultant

Peter Habicht is a welding and metallurgical engineer with 40 years industry experience in commercial nuclear power plant construction, operation and maintenance, specialty metals manufacturing, Quality Control/Quality Assurance, and failure analysis. During his career he has held a variety of positions including engine mechanic, senior engineer, supervisor, manager, and consultant. Peter has also been employed in the Ski Industry for 35 years where he worked as a Certified Professional Ski and Snowboard Instructor, and Snowboard Department Supervisor and is experienced in all aspects of instruction as well as Ski Area and Terrain Park Safety and Ski Area Management.

As a welding engineer Peter has been involved with welding process development and improvement, welding metallurgy, as well as ASME welding procedure development and qualification. He has expertise in various welding processes as well as brazing and diffusion bonding involving a variety of materials including low and high alloy steels, stainless steel, copper and brasses, aluminum alloys, titanium, high density polyethylene, ceramics and glasses.

He has been responsible for materials and fabrication support to engineering and QC during the development and construction of commercial nuclear power plants. His responsibilities included drawing and procedure review and approval as well as the development of procedural control for paints and coating used within the nuclear reactor containment building.

Peter's operational exposure has included detailed failure analysis and repair as well as the examination and analysis of a wide variety of failures that have resulted from corrosion damage.

As Quality Manager at a powder metals manufacturing facility, Peter was responsible for a plant wide Quality Improvement Program, product inspection and QC, as well as chemical analysis using a variety of analytical techniques.

Additionally, Peter, spent several years as a technical writer, developing and writing a variety of documents and manuals aimed at plant safety, operation, maintenance, and repair. He also prepared and wrote inspection and maintenance procedures for electric power distribution, substation circuit breakers, circuit switches, and other substation electrical components.
