Michael Smolin, P.E., is a Chemical Engineer, registered Professional Engineer, forensic engineer, teacher, executive and consultant with nearly 50 years of experience including 20 plus years as Engineering Principal and Owner.

As a process engineer, cost estimator, project manager and engineering principal he has participated in the design, construction, start up and operations of highly automated grassroots and battery limits chemical, pharmaceutical and food processing facilities.

Michael brings a lifetime interest and experience in the development and use of renewable energy including energy conservation, ethanol, cellulosic ethanol, agricultural and forestry biomass, gasification of biomass, gas-to-liquid, hydrogen, syngas, fuel cells, biodiesel and capture and recycle of carbon dioxide.

Recent projects Michael has lead for our team include two root cause investigations and analysis of chemical facility fires, investigation of causes of corrosion in major energy systems for a manufacturing complex, investigation of cause of corrosive destruction of environmental equipment and large vent stack, investigation into causes of contamination of an agricultural chemical, and due diligence to establish the value of a specialty chemical facility for purchase by a client.
