Major Manufacturing Corporation
Facility Manager Was responsible for site management and all aspects of three high-tech chemical processing plants on a 96 acre site. Was directly responsible for site operations, engineering, maintenance, HAZMAT, ERT, purchasing, developing the budget and other functions that consistently exceeded all corporate performance, safety, quality and budgetary policies, permits, requirements and goals. Operated within the executive board approved expense budget and capital budget. Maintained positive site relations with the executive board, regulatory agencies, local officials and customers through operating cost reductions, a positive safety record and environmentally sound operations. Assistant Facility Manager Teamed with the facility manager on the day-to-day operation of the $500MM site. Led management, and instituted activities that built cohesion and focused the staff to meet site goals. Achieved a 50% reduction in site electricity consumption and a safe and environmentally sound operation through staff initiatives. Engineering Manager Mechanical project manager and chief engineer during the design, construction and start-up of two plants. Directly responsible for these plants coming in 10% under budget, 17% ahead of schedule, and setting industry standard for quality. Engineering manager for the operating plant. Built and staffed the operations and maintenance departments, increasing plant uptime by 30% through team building activities and focusing staff on attention to details. Plant Systems Engineering Supervisor Mechanical project manager and chief engineer during the construction of plant one. Built and staffed the engineering department and developed a very effective and efficient team.
Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance, Washington Public Power Supply System, WNP-2, Richland, WA
Led and performed engineering and operations audits, assessments, and analyses on nuclear systems, structures, components, operations and chemical processing systems, including ECCS, radwaste, NSSS and electrical production. Project manager for oversight of nuclear, engineering and reactor-plant operation activities. Especially improved plant performance and regulatory relationships through improved design engineering and plant systems engineering products and actions. Responsible for oversight activities in the main control room during plant maneuvering activities and abnormal events. Assisted shift manager with additional eyes on the boards and plant activities. Directed the engineering and operational oversight of NSSS and BOP activities including plant modifications, changes in operating philosophy, tech spec changes, plant testing and fuel receipt/refueling. Responsible for operational and engineering approval of new and existing reactor-plant systems, including ECCS enhancements and modifications. Direct oversight of corporate emergency response activities, facilities, training, drills and performance during actual abnormal-plant-operation events. Managed air plume modeling and tracking, and directed the activities of federal, state and company field teams during abnormal-plant-operation events. Root Cause Analyses Group Led and executed root cause analyses (RCA), failure analyses, common cause analyses, and failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA) on management issues, nuclear plant systems, plant operations and chemical processing systems, including ECCS, radwaste, NSSS and electrical production. Employed corrective actions that resulted in no recurrences. Trained staff to perform root cause analyses. Lead investigator on the incident response team. Independent Safety Engineering Group (ISEG), Nuclear Safety Analysis Group (NSAG) Led and performed assessments and analyses on nuclear systems, structures, components, operations and chemical processing systems, including ECCS, radwaste, NSSS and electrical production. Received performance awards from both organizations.
Field Representative, Calgon Corporation/Merck, Rahway, NJ
Consulting engineer, specializing in corrosion abatement, ultrapure water and industrial process purification. Met with customers, wrote proposals, set pricing, managed accounts and developed significant new business. Secured improvements on existing customer plant processes that launched a new
chemical plant, saved a paper mill from shut down, restarted a food plant, and established emergency system reliability on a nuclear power plant.

Plant Systems Engineer, Chemical Process Engineer RHR and several BOP systems. Responsible for the start-up, operation, R&D, maintenance and engineering of reactor-plant chemical and nuclear system processes for a 3323 MW(t) GE BWR-5 nuclear power reactor. Developed, implemented and analyzed initial plant start-up power ascension testing. Experienced with NSSS, BOP and radwaste areas. Well versed with RHR and reactor-plant, including demineralization and powdered resin processes. Developed the pilot plant, performed R&D and implemented scale-up in support of operations, the draft tube and pioneered Powdex resin system operating approaches that revolutionized large BWR condensate clean up and radwaste processing systems, and implemented the reactor-plant integrated system structure and component chemical corrosion management program that was adopted by the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations, becoming the nuclear industry standard. Emergency response team chemical process engineer responsible for reactor chemistry and radwaste processing and clean-up during abnormal-plant-operation events. Pilot Advisor/Consultant Technical Advisor during a special investigation of an event at the TOCDF, Deseret Chemical Depot, UT. Determined the root cause and quantity of material dissolved for a Spent Fuel Cask Dissolution event at a large commercial PWR and performed a 3,300MW(e) CCGT Plant Design and Effectiveness Review. Performed an engineering and operation review on the launch of a new polymer, for Enviroguard, Inc.
