Reliability / Maintainability Section Manager, Kaiser Electronics San Jose, CA
Was responsible for group of 20 Reliability / Maintainability / Safety / Integrated Logistics Engineers. Provided training and staffing for major defense programs. Established environment of empowerment and teamwork in order to provide 100% on time delivery of data and 100% acceptance of hardware. Provided training to engineers in SPC, TQM, Team membership, team leadership and training regarding design verification techniques. Provided real time design verification for reliability, maintainability, safety, and logistics during the product development phase. Used Ford Loral Design and Process FMEA procedures. As engineering's representative on the Production Process Improvement Council, one of six company business councils, was instrumental in implementing and promoting SPC within the factory. These activities included training production personnel in the use of SPC tools such as run charts, Pareto charts, root cause problem solving, Cp., and Cpk. Presented results to Production Council that consisted of all the manufacturing upper management. The Statistical Process Control techniques implemented helped company reach their goal of a 50 times reduction in Defects per Unit and 10 times reduction in cycle time. Helped company to obtain silver certification in SPC with major customer. Started procedure to combine design and process FMEAs with SPC to help identify significant processes for SPC data collection and for capability studies.
