Consultant, Kevin Kennedy Associates Inc.
Providing expertise in engineering project management and systems design, radar systems, high-speed communications, and networking systems design, digital and analog system design, embedded processing systems design, semiconductor device process engineering, thin film coating, ultra-high vacuum technology, and related expertise to a wide variety of clients.
Vice President of Engineering, hardware/software design and manufacturing firm
Responsibilities included engineering project management, product specification and acceptance testing,
product design, software design, and the production of user's manuals and sales literature. Specialized in high-speed communications and networking systems as well as high-performance analog and digital data systems both incorporating the most modern technologies including: Xilinx Vertex-II (Pro) and Altera Stratix FPGAs, gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel, and a variety of 32-bit and 16-bit processors supporting all memory types. Produced board level components and turnkey systems for companies such as Boeing Space and Defense, TRW, Hughes Aircraft, UCLA, USC, Kodak, Mission Research Corporations, Maxtor, Spectrum Signal Processing, and many more. Also was responsible for security on the company network and information system running on several Linux servers and windows workstations using both 10/100 mbit and gigabit connections.
Software/Hardware Systems Developer, General Dynamics / Pomona
Was responsible for development of digital signal processing software and hardware systems for advanced radar and seeker programs. This included development of several millimeter waver seeker prototypes at 39, 63, and 90 GHz with related parallel processing digital signal processing systems. Also conducted analysis of field data, the use of simulation models, and the use of simulated data to implement real-time radar target identification systems. Other responsibilities included the development and implementation of a division wide networked data system for use in a semiconductor research laboratory; vacuum system design and characterization of GaAs semiconductor films; and the training and supervision of research scientists conducting molecular beam epitaxy of GaAs films.
Hughes Malibu Research Laboratory
Conducted research on binary and tertiary semiconductors using molecular beam epitaxy and chemical vapor deposition of gallium arsenide (GaAs) and mercury cadmium telluride (HCT). Developed a reactive ion-assisted thin film deposition process for specialized optical and passivation coatings on IR detectors.
