Senior Scientist, Genomics and Molecular Biology, a Bioscience Company providing technologies for new therapeutic drug development
Served as Group leader for the development of molecular biology kits for DNA purification. Developed and launched a new product line of molecular biology kits, resulting in $2M of new sales in the first year. Managed product validation, quality documentation, and preparation of technical literature. Provided critical technical support for major accounts, which contributed to the closing of over $1M in new business. New customers included several of the largest public and private genome research centers. Served as in house consultant to sales, marketing, and technical services for entire range of genomics applications. Completed a technical seminar tour through Asia and Australia introducing novel platforms for DNA purification. Provided ongoing product training to Sales and Technical Support Groups in North America, Asia, Europe, and Australia. Negotiated with vendors for sourced reagents and collaboratively drafted quality plans for production and Q.C. testing. Worked closely with other groups/departments in coordinating product development such as marketing, marketing communications, packaging, supplier quality, purchasing, and sales.
Research Fellow, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Department of Cancer Immunology & AIDS) & Harvard Medical School (Department of Pathology), Boston, MA
Designed experimental strategies toward elucidation of HIV-1 integrationƒn (generation, purification, and biophysical characterization of mutant proteins). Developed novel means of isolating HIV-1 pre-integration complexes (PICs) through the insertion of epitope tags using overlapping PCR. Used molecular modeling programs to analyze protein structures, presented experimental data at local and international scientific meetings, and prepared manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals. Delivered oral presentation of research on a novel human protein (BAF) involved in HIV integration at the international meeting on retroviruses at Cold Spring Harbor National Laboratories. Supported by National Research Service Award (NRSA) Grant from the National Institutes of Health.
Graduate Student, University of Medicine and Dentristry of New Jersey, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Newark, NJ
Thesis work consisted of mutational analysis of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and specifically identification of amino acid residues that influence dNTP substrate binding and or/drug resistance (publications below).
