Was responsible for all product development mechanical engineering functions for contract engineering and internal R&D. Created, designed, developed, and test products in the areas of high-flow low-power piezo driven pneumatic valves for industrial and military applications. Also developed low power high force and precision linear motors for industrial applications and specialty applications in the music industry, (IP restrictions limit the detail to which I can discuss these products). Used SolidWorks solid modeling software for all designs. Personally did the high precision machining for prototypes. Can build, install, upgrade, and troubleshoot PC’s and Laptops. Managed engineering department for contract electronic manufacturing company. Responsible for all aspects of the department, personnel, budget, project priorities, training, etc. Responsible for technical contract review quoting engineering time for design engineering services. Responsible for the mechanical portion of all design and development projects including molded and sheet metal circuit board housings. Used MS Project for scheduling and tracking projects. Developed Engineering Change procedures for the company, as well as proper PDM.

Designed new products, supervised engineers and drafters, and acted as primary contact for various product lines. Designed die cast, injection molded, and machined parts and elastomeric seals. Chaired Engineering Change Committee at NC and PA manufacturing facilities and worked closely with manufacturing and purchasing to reduce product costs. Published technical instructions for new products using MS Word.
Engineering Graphics Supervisor/Project Engineer, Kennametal Inc., Raleigh, NC
Supervised the daily activities of the engineering graphics department. This included supervising the daily workflow, organizational structure, personnel, and managing an annual budget for personnel and equipment of approximately $250,000. Reduced costs by 8% and automated the deliveries of supplies. Design Project Supervisor Rewrote the Global Drafting & Design Manual, organized and led the project team for implementing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, GD&T, throughout the company, and restructured the engineering change procedures. Worked closely with designers, engineers, engineering managers, and plant managers throughout the USA and Europe. GD&T Consultant Worked closely with engineers and designers from different product groups to help them apply GD&T. Developed training program and trained engineers, designers, machine operators in GD&T.
