This consultant was retained as an expert witness for the largest Hepatitis A outbreak in the U.S. Approximately 650 individuals developed Hepatitis A after eating at a restaurant. An investigation was conducted, and green onions were identified as the source of the outbreak. The investigation implicated a number of possible farms as the source of the outbreak, including a farm that this consultant's client attorney was representing.

This consultant identified gaps and inconsistencies in the report. Specifically, it was determined (and an affidavit subsequently filed) that epidemiologic evidence indicated that the source of contamination could not have been from the farm that the client was representing. As a result, the case against the farm is being dismissed.
